Terms of Service

Last updated 10 July 2026.

1. About GoVet

GoVet is a mobile veterinary service operating in the greater Johannesburg area. All veterinary care is provided by veterinarians registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC). By booking a visit or consult, you agree to these terms.

2. Bookings, pending records and payment

When you submit booking details, GoVet creates a pending booking record so that pricing, benefits and your chosen slot can be prepared. If you selected a date and time, that slot is held temporarily for up to 30 minutes while you complete checkout. A pending record and a temporary hold are not a confirmed appointment. Your appointment is confirmed only once checkout is completed successfully — either through successful payment authorisation, or, where the visit is fully covered by an active benefit and nothing is payable, once the covered checkout completes. If checkout is not completed and the temporary hold lapses, the slot is released and becomes available to other clients; your pending booking stays in your account so you can resume it rather than start a new one. Prices shown at checkout are inclusive of the visit itself; medication, diagnostics, and outlying-suburb travel fees are quoted separately and require your approval before being charged.

3. Cancellations

Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the scheduled consultation are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled consultation are non-refundable. This applies to every consultation type — home visits, online consultations and compassionate euthanasia — and however the cancellation arises. Missed appointments (no-shows) are not refundable. Refunds are reviewed and approved by GoVet and paid back to the original payment method.

4. Online consultation attendance policy

Online consultations are scheduled appointments held in the GoVet secure chat. Please open your consultation at the booked time. If you have not joined the chat within 10 minutes of your scheduled start time, the consultation may be closed as a no-show and the consultation fee is forfeited. If your veterinarian is unable to start your consultation within 10 minutes of the booked time, you may reschedule at no cost or request a full refund.

5. Scope of care

GoVet provides primary and routine veterinary care. We do not provide emergency or after-hours critical care. In a life-threatening emergency, please contact your nearest 24-hour animal hospital immediately.

6. Medical decisions

All clinical decisions are made by the attending veterinarian in your pet's best interest. Recommendations, treatment plans, and Health Scores are professional opinions based on the information available at the time of the visit.

7. Your responsibilities

You confirm that you are the pet's owner or authorised caregiver. You agree to provide accurate medical history, keep your pet safely restrained during visits, and follow the treatment plan agreed with the vet.

8. Liability

GoVet's liability for any claim arising from services is limited to the amount paid for the specific visit or consult. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under South African law.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app before they take effect.
