1. Who is responsible
GoVet Mobile Veterinary Services is the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice. Our information officer can be reached at info@govet.co.za.
2. Why we process your information
We process personal information to register your account, book and deliver veterinary care, keep clinical records required by law, invoice you, administer GoVet Pet Protect memberships and send you service messages about your pets.
3. What we collect
Your name, contact details and address; your pet's clinical history, photographs and documents; booking and consultation records; invoices and payment references; and communications between you and the practice.
4. Lawful basis
We process your information to perform our contract with you, to comply with veterinary record-keeping obligations, and — for optional marketing — on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
5. Sharing
We share information only where necessary: with the treating veterinarian, with referral clinics or laboratories you are referred to, with our payment processor for card transactions, and with our email delivery provider for service messages. We never sell your information.
6. Security
Information is stored on access-controlled servers with encryption in transit and at rest. Clinical and financial records are protected by role-based access rules, and every high-risk administrative action is written to a permanent audit log.
7. Retention
Clinical records are retained for the period required by veterinary regulations. Account and billing records are retained for the periods required by tax and consumer protection law. Marketing preferences are retained until you withdraw them.
8. Your rights
You may request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion where we are not legally required to keep it, and you may object to direct marketing. Email info@govet.co.za and we will respond within 30 days.
9. Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforeg@justice.gov.za.
