Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 July 2026. This policy explains how we handle your and your pet's information under POPIA.

1. Who we are

GoVet is maintained by the GoVet team in Johannesburg, South Africa. We are the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) for the personal information you share with us.

2. What we collect

Account details you provide (name, email, phone, home address for visits), pet information you enter (species, breed, weight, medical history), visit notes captured by your vet, and standard app usage data so we can keep the service running.

3. How we use it

To match you with a vet, deliver the visit or consult, keep your pet's medical record accurate, send you reminders (vaccines, follow-ups), and improve the service. We never sell your data.

4. Who sees it

Your vet sees the medical information they need to care for your pet. Our support team can access account and booking data to help you. Payment details are handled by our payment processor and never stored on our servers.

5. How we store it

Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption in transit and at rest. Access is restricted to staff who need it. Medical records are retained for as long as required by veterinary regulations.

6. Your rights

Under POPIA you can request a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to veterinary record-keeping obligations). Email info@govet.co.za and we'll respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use a small number of first-party cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We don't run third-party advertising trackers.
